The project
Offsite Solutions Scotland (OSS) is a unique co-operative of leading Scottish offsite construction companies, with an established heritage and expertise.
The OSS consortium is committed to transforming people's lives, homes and communities, using proven offsite timber technologies and digital collaboration. The work of the group involves engaging clients, offering a unique blend of collective and individual solutions, to address housing needs as well as working together to promote Offsite Manufacturing, transfer knowledge, share best practise, co-develop skills and undertake collaborative research and development.
The innovation
OSS comprises a variety of businesses and capabilities. OSS works towards a common goal: to make Scotland a centre of excellence for the offsite construction industry and to transform people’s lives, homes and communities using world leading offsite timber solutions from Scotland.
The industry-led collaboration comprises nine leading Scottish offsite design, manufacturing and installation companies working together, operational across Scotland but serving clients across the whole of the UK. Through collaboration we have increased our capacity for project delivery and diversified our skills, catalysing our ability to deliver optimum offsite building solutions.
The outcome
OSS is comprised of nine companies: Alexander Timber Design, CCG OSM, Carbon Dynamic, Mactaggart & Mickel, Makar, Norscot, Robertson Timber Engineering, Scotframe and Stewart Milne Timber Systems. The partnership is supported by Edinburgh Napier University, Construction Scotland Innovation Centre and Scottish Enterprise.
The collaboration encourages knowledge sharing, best practice, skills and experience, co-operation in shared technical and innovation projects, and research and development.
