In Phase 3 of the Initiative it was key to incorporate innovative design, materials or construction techniques within the published budget constraints and within the domains of architecture and landscape architecture.

The innovation

CSIC were employed by Scottish Government in Phase 3 of the SSRI to facilitate and nurture all aspects of design, construction and service innovation in the selected projects, working closely with its academic and industry partners network.

CSIC facilitated discussion on the inclusion of new and innovative materials & technologies, construction processes and the use of offsite manufacture approaches within the projects.

The outcome

The outcomes were two projects procured by Cairngorms National Park Authority sites:

  • Devil’s Elbow
  • Tomintoul
