The project

An innovative partnership between Carbon Dynamic, Albyn Housing Society and NHS Scotland to develop technology enabled assisted living homes that could cater for the varying and changing needs of a range of occupants at different ages and with diverse needs.

The innovation

The buildings are able to adapt physically over time and are fitted with a range of sensors and devices; the data being harnessed through AI and predictive analytics to improve health outcomes for the occupants. The FitHome enables safe and independent living for as long as the occupant chooses, improved outcomes for the tenants, savings for NHS, and stronger communities.

The concept supports residents to take charge of their own wellbeing. At the same time they can meet their health needs through a system of innovative technology and design. They will be able to both self-manage their support and have enhanced face to face social interaction.

The outcome

They are designed to be attractive homes that people would like to live in. They are highly functional, easily adaptable and more suitable for a wide range of people’s health and mobility needs than existing housing. Residents will benefit from digital health and assisted living technologies in a way that has not been possible before.
